FAQ
How is the discount calculated?
Discount amount = Original Price × Discount % / 100. Final price = Original Price - Discount Amount.
Can I calculate multiple discounts?
This calculator handles a single discount percentage. For stacked discounts, apply the first discount, then use the result as the new original price.
Is a 50% discount the same as buy one get one free?
Not exactly. A 50% discount applies to a single item. Buy one get one free means you pay full price for one and get a second free, which is effectively 50% off only if you buy two.
How do I calculate the original price from the sale price?
Divide the sale price by (1 - discount rate). For example, if the sale price is $75 after a 25% discount: $75 / (1 - 0.25) = $75 / 0.75 = $100 original price.
How do I calculate a double discount?
Apply the first discount to get an intermediate price, then apply the second discount to that price. For example, 20% off then 10% off on a $100 item: $100 x 0.8 = $80, then $80 x 0.9 = $72.
