FAQ
What is a healthy body fat percentage?
For men, 10-20% is considered healthy; for women, 18-28%. Athletes typically have 6-13% (men) or 14-20% (women). Essential fat minimums are 2-5% for men and 10-13% for women.
How accurate is the US Navy body fat method?
The US Navy method is accurate within about 3-4% of DEXA scan results for most people. It is widely used by military organizations and considered one of the best field methods.
How do I measure my waist and neck circumference?
Measure your waist at the narrowest point (usually at the navel). Measure your neck just below the larynx (Adam's apple). For women, also measure hips at the widest point. Use a flexible tape measure.
Is body fat percentage better than BMI?
Yes, body fat percentage provides a more accurate picture of body composition. BMI does not distinguish between muscle and fat mass, so athletes may have a high BMI but low body fat.
